JAKARTA, LITERASIHUKUM.COM – The Selection Committee (Pansel) for Prospective Members of the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia (ORI) held an objective test and paper writing stage for 350 participants who passed the administrative selection. The examination, which is a crucial part of the quality selection, was held at the State Civil Apparatus Competency Development Center of the Ministry of State Secretariat, Jakarta, on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. The Head of the ORI Selection Committee, Erwan Agus Purwanto, stated that this stage aims to test the candidates' in-depth understanding of the Ombudsman's function and issues regarding public service. "The first session was attended by participants from serial number 1 to 175, and the second session was attended by participants with serial number 176 to 350," Erwan said in his official statement.

Increased Interest and Commitment to Representation

The selection of Ombudsman members for the 2026-2031 period shows an increase in the number of applicants compared to the previous period. Of the total 476 applicants, 387 were male and 89 were female, exceeding the number of 464 applicants in 2020. Erwan emphasized that the Selection Committee actively encourages representation from various backgrounds, including women, regions, professions, and groups with disabilities. "This is due to the support from women activist colleagues and the realization of the selection committee's commitment to promoting women's representation," said Erwan. This commitment is evidenced by the passing of one applicant from a group with disabilities to the quality selection stage.

Assessment Mechanism and Next Stages

To maintain the objectivity of the paper assessment, the Selection Committee involves ten external readers from academics and practitioners. The assessment process will use the method of double blind review, where the identity of the author and assessor is kept confidential. "The assessment points that we will evaluate revolve around the participants' understanding of the ORI, especially public services," Erwan explained. Participants who successfully pass this stage will advance to the next selection, namely profile assessment. The results of the objective test and paper writing will be officially announced on Friday, August 29, 2025, through the website of the Ministry of State Secretariat. The selection committee formed by President Prabowo Subianto is tasked with selecting and filtering candidates until 18 names are chosen. These dozen names will then be submitted to the House of Representatives RI to undergo fit and proper test (fit and proper test) to select nine definitive members of the Ombudsman.
