TORAJA, Legal Literacy - The Head of the North Toraja Police, AKBP Stephanus Luckyto Andry Wicaksono, has spoken out regarding the arrest of the Head of Narcotics Unit of the North Toraja Police, AKP Arifan Efendi, and the Head of Narcotics Sub-unit, Aiptu Nasrul, in a case of alleged involvement in a drug network.

Stephanus emphasized that his institution will not tolerate personnel proven to have committed violations, especially those related to narcotics. He stated that this commitment is in line with the directives of the Head of the South Sulawesi Regional Police.

"We are committed to not tolerating any violations committed by members, if proven to be involved in drug trafficking," said Stephanus, Sunday (22/2).

The arrest of the two was said to have started from the statement of a drug dealer with the initials ET alias O who was secured earlier. In his confession, ET mentioned a deposit of IDR 13 million per week.

Stephanus said that currently AKP Arifan is undergoing examination at the South Sulawesi Regional Police's Propam Division to test the truth of the allegations leveled against him. He also emphasized that the status of Arifan and Nasrul is not yet as suspects in narcotics cases, but rather still in the position of being examined regarding alleged violations of the code of ethics.

According to Stephanus, the South Sulawesi Regional Police and the North Toraja Police are working together to accelerate clarification and investigation in order to have legal certainty for all parties.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Propam Division of the South Sulawesi Regional Police, Kombes Pol Zulham Effendi, stated that the examination of the two was carried out intensively. Both have also been secured and placed in a special placement (patsus) for the purpose of initial examination.

Zulham emphasized that his institution does not provide space for individuals who are playing around, especially those related to narcotics. Further investigation is being carried out to ascertain the extent of the alleged involvement and the role of each party in the case.
