JAKARTA, Legal Literacy— The police have deployed 1,436 joint personnel to secure the demonstration held by the Alliance of Students and Civil Society in the DPR/MPR RI Building area and around Monas, Central Jakarta, on Friday (6/3/2026). The personnel come from the Polda Metro Jaya, Polres Metro Jakarta Pusat, and Polsek ranks, with the main task of ensuring that the expression of opinions in public takes place safely, orderly, and conducive.
The Head of Polres Metro Jakarta Pusat, Kombes Pol Reynold E.P. Hutagalung, emphasized that all deployed officers were not equipped with firearms. According to him, the security approach chosen is humanistic, persuasive, and professional, in line with the obligation of officers to protect the constitutional rights of citizens in expressing their aspirations peacefully. He also emphasized that the presence of the police is not to restrict demonstrations, but to ensure that activities take place without security disturbances that could harm the participants of the action and the general public.
Security Focused on Orderly Actions and Traffic
In addition to preparing security personnel, the police are also taking anticipatory steps through readiness appeals and mapping the potential dynamics of the masses before the action takes place. This security is considered important considering that the demonstration location is in a strategic area of the capital city which has a high level of mobility and is close to government activity centers. Therefore, arrangements in the field not only target the safety of the action participants, but also the smooth flow of vehicles and activities of residents around the location.
Reynold appealed to the orators and participants of the action to maintain order, not to provoke, and not to act anarchically during the demonstration. The police also asked the demonstrators not to close public roads or damage public facilities, so that the expression of opinions remains within the legal corridor. At the same time, people who will pass through the Central Jakarta area are advised to look for alternative routes to avoid traffic density which could increase as the number of action participants increases.
