JAKARTA, LITERASIHUKUM.COM - Polda Metro Jaya provides an update on the detention of doctor Richard Lee in cases of alleged violations consumer protection as well as alleged violations related to beauty products and treatments. The police emphasized that during the detention period, Richard Lee's rights were still fulfilled like other detainees, including the right to worship fasting and sahur at the Metro Jaya Police Detention Center. Up to Sunday, March 8, 2026the police also stated that there has been no submission of suspension of detention from Richard Lee's attorney.
This case stems from a report that was submitted to Polda Metro Jaya at december 2, 2024. In the development of the investigation, Richard Lee was later named as a suspect in december 15, 2025. Prior to his detention, Richard Lee had filed pretrial to the South Jakarta District Court to challenge his suspect status. However, the petition was eventually rejected by a single judge, so the investigation process against him continued.
Police say detention was carried out because it was considered to hamper the investigation
Polda Metro Jaya said Richard Lee's detention was carried out at Friday, March 6, 2026 at 21.50 WIB at the Jakarta Police Detention Center. Before being detained, he was questioned for about four hoursfrom 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with total 29 questions from investigators. The police also stated that Richard Lee had undergone a medical examination by Biddokes Polda Metro Jaya, including checking blood pressure, saturation, and body temperature, with the results declared normal so that it was considered appropriate to undergo detention.
According to the Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Police Commissioner Budi Hermantothe decision to detain Richard Lee was taken because investigators considered the suspect hinder the investigation process.
