JAKARTA, Legal Literacy – The South Jakarta District Court (PN) today, Wednesday (20/8/2025), held the first hearing for the Case Review (PK) of the defamation case against the 10th and 12th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla, with the convicted defendant Silfester Matutina.

“The hearing is scheduled for 13.00 WIB, but the implementation can be adjusted to the readiness of the parties,” said the Public Relations Officer of the South Jakarta District Court, Rio Barten, Tuesday (19/8).

Silfester's case has received public attention because, until now, the Attorney General's Office has not executed the decision that has been legally binding since 2019. At that time, Silfester was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison, but remained free for six years. In fact, on March 18, 2025, he was appointed by the Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir as an Independent Commissioner of ID Food or PT Rajawali Nusantara Indonesia (RNI).

The Attorney General's Office actually emphasized that the submission of a PK does not postpone the execution. However, until the hearing, the execution of Silfester had not yet been carried out. “Tomorrow is the PK hearing, just wait for the PK. We'll see tomorrow,” said the Head of the Legal Information Center of the Attorney General's Office, Anang Supriatna. He added, “PK still does not postpone the execution.”
