Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the House of Representatives, Ahmad Sahroni, said that this selection process is a follow-up to the notification letter from the Constitutional Court regarding the need to replace constitutional justices. According to him, only one name was submitted for the fit and proper test, namely Inosentius Samsul. “Tomorrow (Wednesday) will be held fit and proper test,” said Sahroni.

This process is an important part of maintaining the institutional continuity of the Constitutional Court, which has played a strategic role as the guardian of the constitution. Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Adies Kadir, added that the replacement of constitutional justices is a necessity according to the laws and regulations. “I am sure my colleagues in Commission III understand the mechanism for replacing MK justices well,” he said.

The Figure of Inosentius Samsul

Inosentius Samsul was born in Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara, on July 10, 1965. He is an academic and legal bureaucrat who has had a long career in the Indonesian House of Representatives. Currently, he serves as the Head of the Expertise Agency of the Indonesian House of Representatives, a strategic position responsible for supporting legislative work in parliament.

In terms of education, Inosentius completed his legal studies up to the doctoral level at the University of Indonesia. His areas of expertise include constitutional law, legislation, and consumer protection. He has also been an active lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia since 2001, guiding S-2 and S-3 students, and has been involved in legal research.

In his professional career, Inosentius has been recorded as having led various drafting teams for laws, including revisions to the Constitutional Court Law, the Consumer Protection Law, and regulations related to the energy sector. He is also active in writing scientific works, including books and articles on legal politics, harmonization of laws and regulations, and analysis of the implications of MK decisions.

The State Official Wealth Report (LHKPN) submitted in 2023 shows that Inosentius has a total wealth of Rp3.26 billion, consisting of land, buildings, vehicles, and other assets.
