JAKARTA, LITERASIHUKUM.COMThe Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has again conducted a Hand-Catching Operation (OTT) and this time ensnared high-ranking officials in the ministry's circle. The Deputy Minister of Manpower (Wamenaker), Immanuel Ebenezer, was arrested by the enforcement team on Thursday (8/21/2025) morning regarding allegations of extortion. The news of this arrest has been directly confirmed by the leadership of the anti-corruption agency. "True," said Deputy Chairman of the KPK, Fitroh Rohcahyanto, via a short message when confirmed, Thursday (8/21/2025). Fitroh added that the initial allegation of a criminal act that ensnared Immanuel Ebenezer was "extortion" related to the management of Occupational Safety and Health (K3) certification in a number of companies. KPK Spokesperson, Budi Prasetyo, said that the silent operation was carried out in the Jakarta area. However, he has not detailed the exact location of the arrest or who else was secured with the Deputy Minister of Manpower. In accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), the KPK has 1x24 hours to determine the legal status of the parties secured. "The construction of the case, the number of parties secured, and the evidence confiscated will be announced in full by the KPK leadership at a press conference in the near future," said Budi.

Fifth OTT in 2025

The arrest of Immanuel Ebenezer marks the fifth OTT held by the KPK throughout 2025, showing an increase in the intensity of the agency's enforcement. This action targets various strategic sectors, from local governments to BUMN. Previously, the KPK had carried out a series of OTTs, including:
  • March 2025: Bribery case for a project at the Ogan Komering Ulu PU Office.
  • June 2025: Entrapping officials of the National Road Implementation Work Unit in North Sumatra.
  • August 2025 (Second Week): Arrest of the Regent of East Kolaka, Abdul Azis.
  • August 2025 (Third Week): Entrapping the President Director of BUMN PT Inhutani V, Dicky Yuana Rady.
This action against the Deputy Minister of Manpower is the latest breakthrough by the KPK, which is now targeting executive officials at the ministerial level, while also sending a strong signal of commitment to eradicating corruption without discrimination.
