Jakarta, Legal Literacy - Constitutional Justice and Spokesperson for the Constitutional Court (MK), Enny Nurbaningsih, ensured that the examination of Ridwan Mansyur by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) had no connection with his duties or cases at the MK.
“It is true that this morning he was asked for information as a witness at the KPK. The examination was brief, only about an hour, and had absolutely nothing to do with the MK,” said Enny when met at the MK Building I, Jakarta, Thursday (1/16).
Enny also dismissed speculation that the examination was politically charged. She emphasized that Ridwan's examination was not related to cases being handled by the MK, including the regional head election (pilkada) disputes that are currently taking place.
According to Enny, the information requested by the KPK investigators from Ridwan was related to the Supreme Court (MA), the institution where Ridwan previously served before becoming a constitutional justice.
“He said that this was related to events that occurred when he was still on duty at the MA. So, it has absolutely nothing to do with the MK. That has been explained by him to me, and I think this is clear,” said Enny.
Examination Related to the Supreme Court
Enny added that Ridwan's summons by the KPK was a rescheduling of a previous summons that had been postponed.
“This summons has been around for a while, maybe about a week ago,” she said.
Ridwan finally fulfilled the KPK's summons on Thursday due to his busy schedule hearing pilkada disputes in panel 2 of the MK. His packed preliminary examination agenda meant that he could only attend today.
“We are very busy, but coincidentally there is no schedule for the panel 2 hearing today. So, he asked the KPK for permission to attend today,” explained Enny.
Ridwan Mansyur and the Case at the KPK
On Thursday morning, Ridwan Mansyur was seen arriving at the KPK's Merah Putih Building. He was examined as a witness in one of the cases being investigated by the KPK. KPK Spokesperson, Tessa Mahardhika, confirmed this.
“That's right, he was examined as a witness,” Tessa said briefly.
Based on information gathered, Ridwan's examination was related to an alleged corruption case involving the former Secretary of the Supreme Court, Hasbi Hasan. In this case, the KPK also named Hasbi as a suspect in money laundering (TPPU). This case is a development of the alleged bribery related to case management within the Supreme Court.
